OVERVIEW

Elevate your visual storytelling with the distinctive charm of TLS Petzval Primes, offering a unique blend of historical lens design with modern cinematic adaptation. Originally formulated in the mid-19th century by Joseph Petzval and manufactured by Austria’s Voigtlander company, these lenses stood as one of the first scientifically computed lens objectives, earning critical acclaim from the era’s scientific community.

These venerable lenses have been ingeniously rehoused by TLS for contemporary cinema cameras, preserving their original allure as portrait lenses, distinguished by their central sharp focus and swirling, smooth bokeh.

Array of ranges

The Petzval 58mm and 85mm are two re-housed still photography lenses that were designed by Joseph Petzval in 1840 and first built by the Voigltander company in Austria.

Flares, filters, prisms, and panty hose are only some of the tools used to ‘de-tune’ digital images and currently, bokeh is king. Drawing a striking similarity from anamorphic glass is the lovely, painterly, waterful bokeh.
